Following the President’s national address on Sunday, the Ministry of Sports and Civic Equilibrium has confirmed that calm and order will be classified as a competitive discipline, effective immediately. Reference DSC/2026/114 sets out the framework, which was drafted over the weekend by a working group convened at short notice. Representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, the national federation of cafés, and one observer from the Louvre attended.
Under the new framework, participants are scored on the speed with which they return to a seated position, the consistency of their facial expression during public transport delays, and the proportion of a given boulevard that remains free of litter. Points are awarded for orderly queuing, which is defined as queuing in a single line that has not been requested. Teams will compete regionally before a national final scheduled for the spring.
Spectators have been asked to refrain from reacting to the outcome of any match. Looting, which was referenced in the original address, has been reclassified as a foul and will incur a penalty of one season’s eligibility. A spokesperson for the federation described the launch as a natural progression from the national address and confirmed that the sport will be overseen in accordance with established procedures. Registration remains open through the end of the month.
