PRESS RELEASE — OFFICE OF STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
Following a comprehensive performance review conducted by the Office of Unspecified Objectives, the government of Equatorial Guinea has submitted its resignation effective immediately. The vice-president announced that the administration had achieved approximately 10 percent of its stated targets.
When pressed for clarification regarding the nature of these targets, the office issued the following statement: “The targets in question were established through established channels and represent a comprehensive framework for governance. Specific details regarding their composition, measurement criteria, or existence remain classified pending inter-agency consultation.”
International observers have expressed concern about the precedent this sets. A spokesperson for the Global Governance Initiative noted that “the voluntary resignation of an entire government based on failure to meet objectives of unknown scope, definition, or feasibility represents a significant departure from established institutional practice.” The statement continued: “We are monitoring the situation to determine whether other administrations possess similar undocumented performance metrics.”
The Equatorial Guinea administration’s departure has prompted several governments to conduct internal audits of their own target frameworks. Early reports suggest that many nations operate under comparable systems wherein objectives remain deliberately unspecified, achievement remains unmeasurable, and accountability remains theoretical.
The resignation takes effect immediately. A transitional administration has been appointed pending clarification of what governance actually entails.
